HH Conditions of Participation, Survey Protocols and Interpretive Guidelines (G-Tags)

In order to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid have established minimum health and safety regulations that all home health agencies (HHAs) must comply with in order to participate in federal healthcare programs. These regulations are called Conditions of Participation, commonly referred to as CoPs. There are additional resources that guide home health surveyors when they inspect HHAs to ensure compliance with federal regulations. These resources are referred to as Survey Protocols and Interpretive Guidelines (G-Tags). In this course, you will learn about the most commonly cited G-tags, their associated interpretive guidelines, and the specific measures your agency can implement to lessen the possibility of survey citations.
In 2017, CMS issued updated Conditions of Participation, or CoPs, which govern the participation of home health agencies in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The intent of the updates is to reflect current best practices through a focus on patient-centered care, patient rights, and value and outcome-based care in an effort to promote high quality care for all, under all circumstances, in the home health arena. This course reflects those changes.
